Scarlet Winter is an East London-born set designer and prop stylist with over 15 years of experience crafting immersive, visually striking worlds. Her distinctive bold, evocative aesthetic blends nostalgia, pop culture, and the surreal, drawing inspiration from notions of the uncanny, the natural world and 20th-century art & interiors to toys & cartoons. Scarlet explores scale, humour, and unexpected contrasts, her work creates captivating visual narratives, seamlessly blending storytelling with material exploration.
Trained in sculpture at Central Saint Martins, Scarlet refined her craft under Rhea Thierstein, Stefan Beckman, and as a regular studio designer for Shona Heath whose creativity and discipline remain a guiding influence. Playful yet sophisticated, Scarlet's studio is renowned for its hands-on, multidisciplinary approach, designing and fabricating bespoke props, sets, and objects with an emphasis on sculptural forms, materiality, and innovation.
Scarlet has worked and collaborated with leading photographers such as Mert & Marcus, Metz & Racine, and Emma Dalzell-Kahn, working across print, motion, digital media, installation, and live events. Her clients include luxury brands like Stella McCartney, Jo Malone, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, alongside installations for the V&A, and live environments for Browns, Lisa Eldridge, Spotify, and Diageo.
Scarlet continues to push the boundaries of set design, creating visually compelling narratives that transport audiences. Beyond her practice, she speaks at universities and explores fine art, and creates ceramics and textile design, always seeking new ways and mediums to merge craft, concept and cultural storytelling.
