Born in Saitama, Japan, Ryo Narushima moved to Tokyo at the age of 18 where he built his career as hair stylist for 10 years. During this time, Ryo worked within the fashion industry and cemented his technical skill in wig work. Relocating to London, he assisted the likes of Guido Palau and Anthony Turner on the international stage and his since gone on to have his work featured in numerous publications as well as Tim Walker's Wonderful Things exhibition at the V&A.
Drawing inspiration from the punk movement, surrealism and street culture, Ryo’s work is a bridge between reality and fantasy.
Ryo has worked with the likes of Katie Grand, Ib Kamara, Nathan Klein, Tim Walker, Coco Captain and Danny Reed. His work has featured in i-D, international Vogues, The Face, Love, Numero, Perfect Magazine and Dazed. His commercial clients include Alexander Wang, Gucci, Richard Quinn and John Lawrence Sullivan.
