Matthew Tuozzoli was born in Fairfield, Connecticut to a family of hair stylists. His father first opened a salon in 1969 and this is where Matthew, alongside his uncles, aunts, cousins and brother, learnt & developed his craft from an early age. Following high-school, Matthew went on to study fine art in Baltimore, Maryland, before moving to San Francisco and pursuing cosmetology. After relocating to New York, Matthew began assisting renowned session stylists such as Ted Gibson, Akki Shirakawa and Gianluca Mandelli, before focussing completely on his own work.

Applying his background in fine art to think analytically about imagery and trust in the creative process, Matthew likes to approach hair as he would a drawing and create graphic, eccentric yet understated styles. His methodology with the use of products and texture creates approachable and lived-in briefs; constantly pushing concepts to achieve unique, boundary-breaking work. Being inspired by the diversity of New York & his love of decade styles, Matthew's knowledge of technical processes provides a strong & confident foundation for a variety of briefs. Warm, focussed and energetic on set, his clients include: Vogue, GQ, W, Document Journal, T Magazine, Ralph Lauren, Uniqlo & Shishedo.

Matthew is based in New York City.
