Born in Bristol in South-West England, Lee Whittaker first became interested in photography through skateboarding as a teenager, where he began taking photos and filming videos of his friends. After graduating from university at the age of 22, Lee began working in a retouching house & subsequently alongside photographers whom he then went on to assist, before focussing on his own work.
Lee’s clean & filmic aesthetic imbued within his photography has been featured in magazines such as AnOther, 1 Granary, Beauty Papers, Apartamento & Air France magazine, with his influences ranging from vernacular imagery & old polaroids to Chloé Zhao films. Guided by instinct, the colour and light captured within both Lee’s fashion and documentary images accentuates the personalities within his portfolio in which he captures ‘beauty in the unorthodox’. Lee’s passion for documentary work navigates his portfolio, as he explains “I’m lucky enough to have experienced people becoming extremely open and unfiltered which has often given me a very unbiased view into different subcultures.”
Commercial clients include: Stella McCartney, L'Occitane, Farfetch and AGL.
